Spring Dog Poop Cleanup in the Niagara Region
The once-a-year job after the snow melts and the whole winter shows up on the lawn at once.
Every Niagara dog owner knows the moment. The snow pulls back in March, and the whole winter is sitting there on the lawn. December, January, February, all at once, in the exact spot the kids want to kick a ball. Nobody wants to spend their first nice Saturday of the year on it.
That is the job a Dog Duty spring cleanup handles. We clear the whole yard once, close the gate behind us, and send you a photo of both the clean lawn and the closed gate.
Why spring is its own job
A regular cleanup deals with a week or a month of waste. A spring cleanup deals with a season.
Snow hides everything
From the first real snowfall, waste gets buried layer by layer. You can’t see it, so nobody picks it up, and most people stop trying by January.
Thaw presses it into the lawn
As the snow melts, everything settles into soft, wet ground. It is harder to lift cleanly than waste on a dry summer lawn, and it takes longer to do properly.
The lawn is already under stress
Grass coming out of winter is weak. Dog waste is high in nitrogen, and left sitting on a thawing lawn it burns the grass underneath into yellow, then brown, dead patches. Those spots usually need reseeding.
It’s a health issue, not just a mess
Roundworm eggs passed in dog waste can survive in yards for weeks and even years, according to the CDC. Children are most at risk because they play close to the ground, and spring is when they head back outside.
What a spring cleanup includes
- You book online. Pick spring cleanup and your number of dogs on the booking page. The price shows before you enter anything else.
- You tell us about the yard. Which gate to use, any lock or code, and anything we should watch for, like a garden bed along the fence.
- We clear the whole yard. Along the fence line, behind the shed, under the deck stairs, around the downspouts. Everything that is exposed gets picked up.
- Two photos when we finish. One of the cleaned yard, one of your gate shut. Both go to your phone, so you know your dog is safe before you get home.
Spring cleanup pricing
| Dogs | Spring cleanup |
|---|---|
| 1 dog | $99 |
| 2 dogs | $119 |
| 3 dogs | $139 |
| 4 dogs | $159 |
Prices are in Canadian dollars before tax. Spring cleanups are subject to yard condition, and five or more dogs or an unusually large yard gets a custom quote. Every price, including one-time and recurring plans, is on the pricing page.
A regular one-time cleanup is $20 less for one dog because there is less buildup to deal with. If your yard was cleaned through the winter, that may be all you need.
What a Niagara spring throws at a yard
- The melt is uneven. Sunny south-facing yards clear weeks before shaded ones. The north side of the house and fence corners can hold snow well after the rest of the lawn is bare.
- Freeze-thaw keeps things soggy. March and early April swing above and below freezing, so lawns stay wet and soft longer than you’d expect.
- A second round melts out. Whatever sat under the last stubborn snowbank shows up a week or two after the first cleanup. A recurring plan catches it.
- Side gates and fenced yards. Most Niagara backyards are reached through a side gate, which is why the closed-gate photo is part of every visit.
Keep it from piling up again
The best time to start recurring dog poop removal is right after a spring cleanup, while the yard is at its cleanest. For one dog, weekly service is $89 a month, every two weeks is $69 and monthly is $49. The lawn gets the whole season to recover, and next March looks nothing like this one.
We do spring cleanups across St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland, Thorold, Pelham, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Lincoln.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a spring cleanup?
A spring cleanup is $99 for one dog, $119 for two, $139 for three and $159 for four, before tax. Spring cleanups are subject to yard condition, since a full winter of buildup varies a lot from yard to yard.
Why does spring cleanup cost more than a regular cleanup?
After months of snow cover, waste builds up and gets pressed into the thawing lawn, so the job takes longer than a regular cleanup. A regular one-time cleanup for one dog is $79; spring is $99.
When should I book a spring cleanup?
As soon as most of the snow is gone from the yard. Waste that sits on a wet, thawing lawn starts to burn the grass underneath, so earlier is better for the lawn.
What if there is still snow in parts of the yard?
We clean everything that is exposed. Shaded corners and the north side of the house often hold snow longer, so a weekly or every-two-weeks plan catches what melts out afterwards.
Do I need to be home?
No. Tell us which gate to use and any lock or code when you book. You get a photo of the cleaned yard and a separate photo of your closed gate when we finish.
Can I start a recurring plan after the spring cleanup?
Yes, and it is the easiest time to start. Weekly service for one dog is $89 a month, every two weeks is $69 and monthly is $49, so the yard never gets back to its March state.
Is dog poop bad for my lawn in spring?
Yes. Dog waste is high in nitrogen, which burns the grass underneath and leaves yellow and brown dead patches. Clearing it early in the spring gives the lawn the whole growing season to recover.
What if I have five or more dogs or a very large yard?
Five or more dogs, or an unusually large yard, gets a custom quote. Send the details through the contact page or call and we will price it.
